PartyMan says: Dance!

Before we get into the club scene for the weekend, let me give a quick reminder that Club Fujiyama on Gate 2 street is raffling off a Mazda Eunos (Miata). Tickets are only $5/700 and they are selling quickly. When the last of the 2,200 tickets are sold, the car will be raffled away on the following Friday in one of the many nightly drawings at the club.

Now to the word on the street. Wild Cherry Club on Naha's Kokusai Street is holding a dance contest on Sep. 3, for those of you with the skills to compete. It's a three person, team competition with each person allowed 90 seconds to shake what they got. Teams will be eliminated until the final round where each person gets 120 seconds.

Entry fee for the dance contest is 1,000 per team and tickets are 2,500 in advance and 3,000 at the door. Ticket price includes one free drink.

Did I mention that the winners get 30,000 in cash? Special guests include Ohji and Seiji from 'Fanky Tomato' (a mainland Japan dance TV show) and their teammate Tetsuya, head of the Co-In Lockers (they placed third in All Japan Dance Daylight competition). Doors open at 8 p.m. and the competition starts at 9 p.m. The Wild Cherry Club is located on the 7th floor of the OPA building on Kokusai Street. Call 863-8997 for more information. Bring your dancing shoes. Americans admitted with a Japanese escort.

If you know of any event that you think should be featured as a Pick of the Week, Call Japan Update at (098)934-5716, fax (098)934-5690 (Attention PartyMan), or e-mail partyman@japanupdate.com.
