The Best Margarita Pizza

By: Marie W. Conway

Date Posted: 1998-08-21

Pepperone restaurant has the best margarita pizza on island. The crust is thin and layered with tomato sauce and mozzarella. The finishing touch is a delicious pesto and olive oil paste delicately drawn across the face of the pie and accented with basil leaves in the center. They also have excellent eggplant, bacon and garlic pastas in tomato or cream sauce.

Beer, an array of wines and many delicious non-alcoholic beverages are available. Their desserts, such as chocolate cheesecake and strawberry mousse pie, rate supreme and the friendly service adds to the ambiance.

The only problem is that the menu is in Japanese so either brush up on your Japanese reading skills or bring a friend who can assist. The restaurant is worth the trip as the service and food are consistently impeccable. It is open from 11 A.M. until 10 P.M., but the last order is taken at 9:30. Don't miss out on this taste of Italy! Pepperone, located on the left when heading south on Hwy. 58 past Camp Kinser and just before the turn off to Kokusai St. It's easy to spot with a bright orange sign with a yellow sun drawn on it.

Free parking is provided for those who spend ¥1,500 or more, in the garage just around the corner. Simply present your parking ticket to the cashier when paying your bill and it will be validated. Reservations are not required.
