"Newman Power Center" has it allDate Posted: 1998-08-21 Located in Nishihara, it is part of the "Makeman" retail chain. The main difference between "Newman" and other "Makeman" stores is that it is twice as large, and it offers the handyman a much more wider selection of supplies. Women will also enjoy shopping at Newman, because of the huge choice in household appliances. You can virtually find everything and anything for your home or garden. It is a great place for interior decorators, giving anyone with an imagination plenty of ideas for creating that perfect house you have always wanted. "Newman" has plenty of lumber, including imported redwood and red cedar from California. The wood is excellent for outdoor purposes, because of its resiliency to insects and weather. There are also stacks of plywood sheets waiting to be taken away. "Newman" will cut any wood you purchase from them for a small extra fee, or you can use the machines yourself for free. Pet owners can find plenty of fencing material and clamps to enclose your yard. A variety of sizes and prices help you to choose the materials right for you. Friendly staff, including some English speaking employees, are available to answer any of your questions and help you with selecting the correct materials. You can also find row upon row of bolts, nuts, and screws. They are conveniently sold individually, so that you do not have to by a whole box if you only need a few of each. Paints, wood stains, and tools are all available to help you with any project you are working on. Electrical supplies and plumbing equipment ranging from the smallest item to whole bathroom sink units are available. You can find just about any type of indoor and outdoor light fixture, and everything you need to get them installed. Other items you can find at the "Newman Power Center" are clothes, furniture, televisions, stereos, carpets, toiletries, gardening supplies, camping equipment, and other outdoor recreational items. Some of the more popular items with foreign customers are "sudare" (bamboo shade curtains), "futons" (for sleeping on the floor), and Japanese style stone garden fixtures. There is even a "Jimmy's" located inside, if you get a craving for something to eat. There is no other store that carries more products for everyday use or for your home. Pay a visit to the "Newman Power Center" and get that item you have been searching for to make your home complete. To get to "Newman" head south on Route 329 from Kadena. After passing the "Daie Hypermart" in Awase, drive for about another 15 minutes. You will enter Yonabaru-cho. Look for the two giant clowns on your right. "Newman" will be on your left, just after you pass the clowns. Keep an eye out for the big sign with the monkey, which can be seen at all other "Makeman" stores. "Newman" is open everyday, except the 4th Tuesday of the month, from 9:30 am until 8 pm. |
