Date Posted: 2003-12-18

The World Cat and Dog Show will be held at Okinawa World Dec. 20-25 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. The event is Okinawa’s largest-ever exhibit of dogs and cats. In addition to more or less hairy man’s friends the event features a petting zoo, dog breeding classes and commemorative photo-taking corner with several long-haired Chihuahuas. There will be dog and cat breeds from around the world visiting Okinawa for the first time. As 2004 is the year of the monkey, a special New Year’s show performed by a monkey and a dog is on stage Jan. 1 through 12. Admission is ¥1,000 in advance or ¥1,300 at the door for adults, ¥700 in advance or ¥900 at the door for children between 4 and 15 years of age. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Ryubo, Mitsukoshi, Coop Okinawa, Book Box, San-A, Family Mart and Lawson.

Okinawa World, best known for its Gyukusendo cave, is located in Tamagusuku Village. From Naha City, take Route 331 towards Tamagusuku Village. After passing the Gushikami Village Office, turn on to Route 17. Drive approximately two kilometers, and Okinawa World is on the right.
