Okinawa, Naha and Ryukyu Bus companies in for strikes

Workers at Okinawa, Naha and Ryukyu bus companies are threatening to go on strike Mar. 26 and 30, unless the companies' management meets their demands.

A strike in the three bus companies would stop the service on 500 bus routes that would disrupt the bus transportation to every region in Okinawa. The unions representing the workers is scheduled to hold separate meetings with each company. The meeting with Okinawa Bus Co. management is scheduled for Mar. 24, and meetings with the other two companies will take place on 25th.

The chief of the workers' union, Masatsugu Sakugawa said that it seems hard to avoid the strikes. He said that the union will make its final decision concerning the strikes 24th.
