Committee discusses Shin-Ishigaki Airport site

The Prefectural Budget Committee met March 16 to discuss possible sites for the construction of the Shin-Ishigaki Airport in Ishigaki City. Head of the construction department, Mr. Seiichi Mekaru, said during the meeting that Ishigaki City residents should have a say in determining the location of the new airport, as this would prevent any major opposition to its construction.

Mr. Mekaru added that a final decision would be made at a special airport committee meeting, where community representatives from Ishigaki, prefectural officers, and environmental experts and engineers, will determine the best possible site.
