Kadena Aero Club faces fair skies

Date Posted: 1999-03-20

Folks at Kadena Aero Club face the future confidently. They recently received a new Cessna 172, to compliment the club's seven-plane fleet; the club's membership has risen steadily to its present total of 160, and more and more people are answering to the call of the blue yonder.

To top things off, the club now has a new Flight Training Center in Bldg. 736 on Kadena Air Base which is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. It is also an official FAA Written Test Center that means that any FAA test can be undertaken at the center through a computer hook-up. Membership is not required to take these tests.

The Flight Training Center offers complete training courses to SOFA status personnel who want to obtain a private pilot certificate. The estimated total cost for the course, including airplane rentals and tests is about $3,800. The next Ground School for the private license will begin Apr. 6. Classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, call the Flight Training Center at 634-5758.
