Two dependents nabbed for robbery

Date Posted: 1999-03-14

Okinawa City Police arrested two dependent spouses, Mar. 3, on suspicion of robbery.

According to Okinawa City Police, John Alexander and Carl Mease were arrested for allegedly robbing an insurance agent of $20,000 and 1.5 million in cash last December.

The robbery occurred at a parking lot outside Kadena Gate 1 on Dec. 16 when the agent arrived at his office. When he parked his car he took a briefcase containing the cash from the trunk of his car. He then put the briefcase on the ground beside him and turned to pick up some other papers from the car. As soon as he turned his back, the robber came from behind, grabbed the briefcase and ran away through a hole in the fence. He then ran to a car where his accomplice waited for him and sped away.

Alexander and Mease are expected to be indicted by Naha District Prosecutors' Office within this week.
