Monica's concert review

It's difficult these days to provide any serious competition to all the top-rated musicians and singers working the concert circuit, but teen diva Monica apparently has no problem delivering the goods.

The singer's performance this past Saturday at Ginowan Out-Door Theater was a perpetual song in motion. Opening the "Angel of Mine Tour" at about 7:20pm with a snippet of her mega-hit single "The Boy Is Mine", Monica teased the audience, but vowed not to perform the hit song without singing duet with partner Brandy. However, later in the show, she invited a child attendee to serve as her duet partner on a brief acappella version of the song, which brought roaring cheers from the crowd. She went on to sing her entire catalog of hit songs, amidst the rain drizzles.

One of the show's other highlight's was Monica singing her rendition of Dorothy Moore's classic " Misty Blue". Her ability to interpret melancholy lyrics with emotion beyond her young years is truly amazing. Finally, at about 8:20pm, Monica, joined by her opening acts, American Dancers Tamajah and Okinawa Dancers B.B.Waves, both of who were excellent, performed the evening's closing song, the recent #1 smash "The First Night".

The concert only lows were the occasional abrupt music stops - courtesy of the sound engineer. Still, despite the few flaws, Monica, like a true professional rose to the occasion and let her exemplary singing skills soar like an "Angel of Ours".
