Southern Hills offers a world of sports

Did you think there was no chance you would keep up your ice hockey skills while in Okinawa? Well, guess again! At Southern Hills Sports World, a group of American and Japanese adult hockey players get together and play every Wednesday from 9 p.m. Two American members of this group, Mike Desmone and Ken Wetherill, both agreed that playing hockey with the Japanese players is a great way to make friends and have a great time on the ice. Even if you don't speak Japanese, you can share a common bond through sports. For more information about joining pickup games, please call Mike at 645-3681 or 933-2560 or Ken at 625-2654 or 930-4535. You must have your own equipment and be a good sport.

Masami Gima, the manager of the skating rink, says he hopes to form a group of about 20 young children to join the weekend ice hockey practices. If you're interested in your child taking part in a youth ice hockey program, please call Mr. Yamashiro, who speaks English at 098-888-5858.

Southern Hills Sports World offers a one-stop amusement center, which is fun for the whole family! Southern Hills also has batting cages, a game center, bowling, and even a Kitadaiichi Restaurant where you can enjoy some appetizing food! It also has plenty of free parking available. The sports center is open daily from 11 a.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. on Sundays, and stays open late until at least midnight every night.

Directions: Take the Okinawa Expressway towards Naha. Get off at the Naha exit and take your first left off the expressway. Take the next two lefts and you'll see Southern Hills on your right.
