Shriners to hold fund raiser for helping children

Date Posted: 1999-03-02

The Okinawa Shrine Club has long been known for their generosity and dedication to the health and education of children around the world. Their dedication has helped to create a children's care service, which includes 22 hospitals throughout North America. Because of the many contributions made by the over 800,000 Shriners internationally and their fund raising campaigns, the medical care provided at the Shriners Hospitals for Children is totally free of charge. Their actions have helped to alleviate the burden of families having to pay high medical bills, who must also cope with the illness of a child. And, they have provided important medical treatment for many children, which has helped to save lives.

The Okinawa Shrine Club has helped 50 children from Okinawa since receiving its charter in 1953. It continues its kind efforts to assist more children, and also is asking for support.

The Shriners are planning to hold an important fundraiser Mar. 13 at the Plaza Officers' Club. The event will begin at 6 p.m., and there will be cocktails, dinner, and entertainment provided. A donation of $25 (3,000) is required. Attire is coat and tie.

Anyone who is interested in more information about the Shriners, or would like to help their cause, please contact President Rick Danielson at 0903-792-5159 or 645-7315 (w). Their e-mail address is: "shriners@hotmail.com". They also request that if you know of a child under the age of nineteen who can be helped by the Shriners, to please contact them.
