Okinawa Prefecture to promote Okinawa for location of Dodgers' TownDate Posted: 1999-03-02 Dodgers' Vice-president Tommy Lasorda, is scheduled to visit Okinawa Sunday, to inspect Japanese baseball teams currently having their winter training camps in Okinawa. Okinawa Governor Keiichi Inamine is scheduled to meet Lasorda during his visit and ask for the team to consider to build the 'Dodgers' Town' in Okinawa. The team has decided to actively scout gifted players from Asia to beef up their team. Taiwan, Korea and China are also promoting themselves as the possible location for Dodgers' Town. Okinawa decided to join the race because Okinawa is the site for many Japanese pro baseball winter training camps. The plans promoters say that that means Okinawa has a good climate and environment for a training facility. |
