Singapore Airlines planning charter flights to Okinawa

One of Asia's best-known air carriers, Singapore Airlines has announced its intention to start a charter flight service to Okinawa from Singapore. The company says that it expects to fly the first charger flight to Okinawa in May, followed by three in July. This marks the first time for the carrier to service Okinawa. Company officials estimate that more than 360 people will visit Okinawa on each flight.

Officials at Okinawa Prefecture Industrial Policy Division and the Prefectural Singapore Office expect that Singapore Airline's service between Singapore and Okinawa will have a remarkable effect for Okinawan economy and give a boost to prefecture's plans to make Okinawa into an important hub in Asia.

Jumbo Tours in Okinawa has been selected to be the agent for Singapore Airlines with the responsibility of taking care of the tourists from Singapore while in Okinawa. There are also plans to send an equal number of tourists from Okinawa to Singapore.
