Number of Okinawa bound tourists boomingDate Posted: 1998-07-30 According to figures by Japan Travel Bureau (JTB), the number of visitors increased 18 percent in April from a year before. The increase in May was a whopping 41%, while June figures were up 23% and July is estimated at 16 %. According to agency officials, Okinawa was the number one travel destination in Japan in May. If the trend continues as officials expect, the total number of visitors this year will exceed four million. |
