Student knocked out in fight with peers

Sunday evening, a fire station in central Okinawa received a call stating that a fight was in progress among a group of junior high school students and one of the boys had been knocked out.

When rescue units arrived on the scene, one of the boys, a sophomore at a central Okinawa junior high school, was lying on his back, close to losing consciousness. The youth had been hit in the face and along his body, and suffered from a broken cheekbone and bruises.

The boys who were present at the scene admitted they had participated in the assault. According to police statements, four or five students beat the victim at one time, until he was nearly unconscious. The victim and his assailants are acquaintances but attend different schools.
