International group learns livestock trade

The Okinawa Prefecture welcomed nine new trainees from the Japanese International Committee Association (JICA) last Thursday and Friday. The group arrived to learn the skill of livestock breeding at the Prefectural Stock Racing Laboratory in Nakijin.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Improving Livestock branch, will provide the training for these students on techniques associated with producing and using livestock feed. Shoji Kuzanaii, the head of the laboratory, lectured about the importance of various kinds of grass in the temperate climate at the Stock Raising Laboratory.

The trainees are from various countries, including South East Asia, Africa and Latin America, and most are experts in livestock raising in their countries. They are in Japan to enhance their skills while studying the feeds in various climates. While in Okinawa, the group also learned about the production process of livestock feed at the laboratory.
