TRICARE rates increase

Date Posted: 1998-06-27

The monthly premium for the TRICARE Active-Duty Family Member Dental Plan (TFMDP) will increase on Aug. 1, 1998. The rate for a single enrollment will go up from the present $7.64 per month to $8.09. A family enrollment that now costs $19.09 per month will increase to $20.00.

Active-duty service members will see the premium increase reflected in their July 1998 Leave and Earnings Statements. Families who are signed up for the plan by their military sponsors on or after July 1, 1998, will be enrolled at the new rate.

The monthly premium that active-duty service members have deducted from their paychecks represents 40% of the total premium cost for the plan. The other 60% is picked up by the government.

The scheduled premium increases were proposed by the present dental contractor, United Concordia Companies, Inc., in their initial pid for the contract, to cover expected increases in program costs. These increases were subsequently accepted by the government.

For more information about the dental plan, write to the contractor: United Concordia Companies, Inc.., TFMPD Customer Service, P.O. Box 898218, Camp Hill, PA 17089-8218. Or, you may also call 1-800-866-8499.
