Classical music performance at Sugar Hall

Classical music lovers will be in for a treat when Stanley Drucker & New York Friends will stage a concert at Sugar Hall, in Sashiki Town, on Jun. 28. The Sunday concert will start at 6 p.m., and the doors to the hall will open half an hour earlier. Tickets are 2,000 in advance and 2,500 at the door. Advance tickets are available at Japan Update office at 934-5616.

Principal Clarinetist Stanley Drucker is known for his numerous solo appearances with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra since joining at the age of 19. Drucker maintains an active solo career in addition to his Philharmonic duties, appearing with ensembles throughout the world. He has been twice nominated for Grammy Awards in the category of Best Instrumental Soloist/Classical with Orchestra.

Drucker will be joined on stage by violist Katherine Greene. She was the former Assistant Principal Violinist of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra until 1990, when she became a member of the New York Philharmonic.

Also performing will be pianist Kazuko Hayami. She appears regularly on the major stages of the United States and Japan, and has performed in concerts in Great Britain and former Soviet Union.
