Okinawa Amerasian School opens

The Okinawa Amerasian School officially opened its doors in Isa, Ginowan City, Monday. The opening ceremony was held at the U.S. Military Base Workers' Health Insurance Welfare Center on the same day.

The school is planning to give tuition from first through seventh grade following U.S.-based curriculum. The tuition will be given in English. Currently the number of students enrolled at the school stands at 20. An American principal and four teachers are responsible for teaching.

More than 50 people attended the opening ceremony. "Everyone who has helped us to build this school should be proud. The idea of this school was conceived only a year ago, and we have been able to make our dream come true in only a year. It is truly remarkable," Shiko Kiyuna representing Okinawa Prefecture at the ceremony said.
