Pile of tires irks citizensDate Posted: 1998-05-30 In the petition, the residents ask the prefecture to transfer the tires to a waste disposal site or recycling plant, build a new road through the property and clean the environment. They also ask officials to post a signboard to advise people not to dispose of their old tires at the site. Officials from the prefecture agreed that something should be done. However, they say that because of the prefecture's budget crunch, there is very little they can do. About the only solution they can think about is to rely on a volunteer group to tackle the problem. |
