Marine held for attempt to smuggle marijuana

A Marine was arrested by the Okinawa Prefecture Police for an attempt to smuggle hemp into Japan through mail. According to Okinawa Prefecture Police, Corporal John L. Little, stationed at Camp Hansen, attempted to receive Marijuana from his sister in North Carolina. The total weight of the package was 3.74 grams. The Marijuana was stuffed inside a peanut canister with candy and chocolate camouflaging the illegal substance.

The Naha International Airmail Office and customs authorities conducted a search of the package with dogs which located the Marijuana.

The package arrived in Naha on March 30. However, the authorities waited for the Marine to pick up the package. The Okinawa Prefecture Police who investigated the case searched the barracks room of the Marine suspected of the crime, Apr. 6, found the weed and arrested him.
