An increasing number of female security guards is also appearing in banks and department stores. Managers of these establishments point out that women often have softer attitude in situations and can handle problems with less confrontation. According to Okinawa Prefecture Security Guard's Business Association, among the 3,600 security guards employed by the 50 member companies, about 100 are women. The largest security company in the prefecture, Okinawa Sogo Keibi Hosho Co., employs 52 women, all of them working at the security check point at Naha Airport. According to the company spokesman, the average age of their female staff is 25 and every one is single. |
