Date Posted: 1998-05-09

A unemployed man walked into a restaurant in Naha City's Tsubogawa area, Sunday night and attempted to steal the night's deposit. Staff members held him down while another called the authorities.

Mitsuo Tokashiki, 29, walked into the restaurant before closing and approached two employees standing at the cashier counter. Seeing a deposit bag on the side of the register, Tokashiki hit the two employees in the face and arms, grabbed the bag containing 30,000 and ran.

Two other staff members grabbed him before he was able to escape. While another employee called the police, the men became involved in a violent struggle. Police arrived on the scene and Tokashiki was arrested immediately.
