PerfecTV! And JskyB MergeDate Posted: 1998-04-18 PerfecTV! Is a consortium of four major trading companies, including JSAT and TBS, while JskyB is consortium of News Corp, Fuji-TV, Sony and Softbank. PerfecTV!, which began services in October, 1996, surpassed 600,000 subscribers at the end of February, while competitor DirecTV Japan reportedly has 25,000 subscribers in its first two months since December, 1997. Pay Per View Japan (PPVJ), an official PPV operator on PerfecTV!, now features WCW Professional Wrestling live every month. NBA League Pass, offered for the first time outside the United States, is generating die-had NBA fans in Japan since the opening of this season. Daily live telecasts of Major League Baseball began this month. PPVJ also features all Hollywood major studios' current hit movies, according to Tom Kawai, Managing Director of PPVJ. Sky-PerfecTV!'s registered company name remains Japan Digital Broadcasting Co., with the same registered address of 2-15-1 Shibuya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
