Spring traffic safety campaign on way

Date Posted: 1998-04-12

The annual Spring Safety Campaign began Monday and will run through Apr. 15. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the campaign which has been conducted every year since 1948. The campaign, which coincides with the start of the Japanese school year places a special emphasis on the safety of first grade elementary school children, as demonstrated by this year's slogan "Can you see me? I'm small, but can you see me?"

Besides special lectures at schools, the police will set up check points for drunk drivers, speed traps, watch the use of seat belts and check driver's licenses.
