Tourist killed in head-on accidentDate Posted: 1998-03-20 According to Police, a car driven by Tsutomu Matayoshi, 21, drifted into oncoming traffic and hit a car filled with five people. Matayoshi, of Okinawa City, was driving from Ishikawa to Gushikawa when he became drowsy and his car went into the opposite lane where Ayano Higa, 21, and her four passengers were traveling. The head-on collision resulted in the death of Koichi Hirayama, 17, of Osaka, who was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital. Ha had sustained major internal injuries. The other passengers and drivers involved were treated for minor injuries, including cuts, concussions and whiplash. |
