Ashibinaa theater to open at Korinza

Date Posted: 1998-03-14

On May 17, the long-awaited Ashibinaa theater will open in the Korinza Shopping Center. A theater available to the public for events and special occasions, Ashibinaa was organized by Okinawa City's Board of Education to improve the local economy while promoting culture, friendship exchanges, tourism, and the local economy. It has been said that by building this theater, Korinza will "symbolize Okinawa by bringing together all types of people, for activities appealing to most anyone."

The theater cost Okinawa City $1.8 million to build and has a seating capacity of 290. "This hall is a top-class theater in Japan," describes a local theater expert. All seats offer a great view of the stage and the community theater feel allows everyone to feel involved in whatever is happening on the stage.

The public is encouraged to use the theater as much as possible for most types of events. If you are interested in renting the Ashibinaa theater for a special affair, contact the Korinza Shopping Center or Japan Update at 934-5616 for more information.
