Okinawa City gets new sister in Washington

In order to finalize a new sister-city agreement worked out between Okinawa City and Lake Wood City, Washington, Mayor Masakazu Nakasone and several city assembly members are scheduled to visit the United States on Jan. 16. The sister-city relationship is expected to foster mutual exchange through people, culture and economy. Lake Wood City covers 55 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 64,000. Like Okinawa City, it also has a large area within its boundaries occupied by U.S. military bases.
