Two arrested for abetting prostitution

Motobu Police arrested two persons on charges of running a prostitution operation in the back room of a restaurant, Monday, in Nago.

According to the police, Yoshiko Furugen, the owner of a restaurant specializing in goat meat meals, and Hiroshi Maeda, the owner of a business hotel were arrested on suspicion of abetting and soliciting customers for prostitutes.

The police began their investigation after customers to the restaurant complained that they had been approached by a waitress in the restaurant who offered suspicious services in the back room. The investigation revealed that the waitress had been doubled as a prostitute in the restaurant since November last year with the full blessings of Furugen who saw it as a means to increase her business.

Maeda was arrested for abetting prostitution. Police said that he had provided rooms for the purpose in his hotel when things had gotten too busy to handle in the restaurant back rooms.
