Renaissance Okinawa Resort 'Thalassotherapie Salon'

The Este de Repose 'Thalassotherapie Salon,' located in the Renaissance Okinawa Resort, is an experience you can not miss. I recently visited the salon and thereby treated myself to a relaxing massage therapy. I could actually hear Robin Leach from 'Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous' saying, "Treat yourself to a luxuriously relaxing adventure."

At the salon your first step is a consultation with the therapist, who recommends the different types of massage therapy, offered for your skin type and price range. The spa offers eight types of 'Thalasso Pack' facials. The facials include everything from a face peal, skin bleach, sunburn aloe vera treatment, to a wrinkle removal massage. The prices of these facials are ´5,000.

There are four types of body massage available ranging in price from ´6,000 -- ´12,000. I chose the seaweed pack. This massage includes a total body wrap. The wrap consists of a mixture of seaweed, minerals, and a sea salt compound. This mixture is heated and massaged over your entire body. Then you are submerged in a thermal cylindrical container, for about thirty minutes. The cylinder automatically sprays water over your entire body to rinse off the seaweed pack. The seaweed aroma is pungent, however the seaweed, salts and minerals in the mixture aid in extracting impurities from your body, so it is well worth the minor unpleasant smell. After the cylinder rinse, the therapist instructs you to take a shower, to remove all traces of the seaweed wrap.

Once showered, the therapist escorts you to a massage table where you receive a facial and body massage. A gentle stream of steam flows toward your face while the therapist massages your face and body with aromatic oils.

The entire session lasts for approximately two hours. I recommend that you travel with someone that will drive you home. The session was so relaxing that I almost had to get a room and spend the night.

If you are looking for a special treat for your spouse, significant other, or you want to pamper yourself, this Salon offers the ultimate in 'Renaissance Relaxation.'
