Attempted robbery foiled, three foreigners sought

Three African -American males entered a store at Chuo Park Avenue in Okinawa City, Friday, pulled a knife and threatened a couple tending the store with a knife demanding money. According to police, the three entered the store while the couple was watching TV. They first through they were customers and wanted to buy something, but when they saw the knife they both started screaming at the top of their lungs. That unnerved the would-be robbers and they ran away without taking any money.

The couple called the Okinawa City police who searched the area. However, because the large number of foreigners that frequent the area, the couple was not able to identify them.

Police say that according to the couple, all three were about 170 cm tall, age 16 - 20, and wearing white shirts and shorts. All were similar in appearance and size. The police is asking anyone with information on this case to contact the local police.
