All the way from Broadway the sizzling, jolting sounds of Smokey Joe's Cafe light up the stage of the Okinawa Convention Center. This Broadway musical captures the essence of vintage 50's rhythm and blues by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, the song writing team who, were instrumental in creating rock 'n' roll. Leiber and Stoller wrote a bunch of hits for Elvis Presley back in the 50's and were early inductees into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.

Smokey Joe's Cafe delivers a colorful array of buoyant zoot suit clad gents strutting through their rendition of Shopping for Clothes. A number choreographed by Joey McKneely, who gives the performers a killer aerobic workout. Weather its artistic and smooth foot work, sexy slow dancing to L & S's low-tempo music, or the ballet in the barrio these hip cats can do it all.

The cast include five guys and four gals with the direction of Jerry Zaks who render and evening that celebrates the dynamic talents of Leiber and Stoller, in a concert of 40 or so prime L&S tunes.

The ensemble will perform on April 4 - 6, two shows on the 4th & 5th , at 2 and 7 p.m. and one show on the 6th at 7 p.m. Ticket price range from 15,000 Yen, 13,000 Yen, 10,000 Yen, and 8,000 Yen in advance and 2000 Yen additional at the door. Tickets may be purchased at Lawson, Hanby Town, Sam A, Machinats Shopping Center and Fukuhara Music.
