Okinawa 1998 MarathonDate Posted: 1998-02-14 The 18th Wing has provided its support for this annual event to promote international friendship. It will provide roadway and support for nearly 10,000 marathon runners (including SOFA participants) to run through Kadena Air Base from Gates 2 to 5. The area of Kadena Air Base is the 27.5 kilometers point of the total 42.195 kilometers. Gates 2 and 5 will be open to runners and spectators traveling on foot. However, both gates will be closed to non-authorized vehicles. Roads will be blocked in areas around Kadena Air Base and traffic jams are expected. Questions about traffic conditions off base should be directed to Ms. Shimabukuru, member of the Marathon Committee at 930-0088. |
