Okinawa graduates finding fewest jobs

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has announced that graduating high school students in Okinawa rank the lowest nationwide in terms of future job commitments secured. According to research conducted on 256,000 high school seniors by the ministry in October, only 16.3 percent of Okinawan high school seniors not contemplating post-secondary education had found post-graduation employment at the time of the survey. This figure is 3.5 percent lower than the same month last year. The research indicated that out of a total of 17,336 seniors in the prefecture, 3,453 hope to find a job immediately following graduation, but to date only 562 of these had been successful.
