Balmy weather adversely affecting appliance sales

Date Posted: 2001-12-13

The warm December weather prevailing in Okinawa has had a negative impact on the sales of heating appliances, according to local retailers. JUSCO and San-A report that the sales of winter home appliances have dropped by more than 20 percent compared to figures from the same period last year and are anxiously awaiting the onset of cold weather to boost their revenue figures. Local temperatures have twice risen above 26 degrees Celsius during the month of December, and only once has the thermometer dipped below 19.2 degrees, the average minimum temperature for this time of year.
