Woman robbed, kidnapped at knifepoint in Okinawa City

A man brandishing a knife broke into an Okinawa City apartment early Tuesday morning, robbing and kidnapping a 23-year-old woman while her mother slept in another room. The victim escaped without injury. According to the police report, a stranger concealing his face with a towel snuck in through the unlocked back door of an apartment in Koja, where he threatened the woman with a knife and demanded money. When she produced her wallet, the man grabbed it and the woman, forcing her to drive to Katsuren Castle in her own vehicle. The victim managed to escape and hitchhiked home. Authorities were notified by the womanís mother, who had been asleep at the time of the attack and had not heard the commotion in the other room. Police are currently looking for the attacker, who is reported to be around 20 years of age and approximately 175 centimeters in height. The victimís car had not been found as of Tuesday afternoon.
