Kakidamishi 2 is the real thing

In recent years, fight promoters such as K-1 have become quite popular all over Japan. People have long been fascinated with blood sports, but they have become weary of synchronized wrestling matches and lightweight martial arts demonstrations. They want the real thing; they want real blood! Sporting event promoters like K-1 have come into existence to determine which style of fighting is the strongest of them all. Soon, you will have the chance to make up your own mind.

A big fight will take place on Dec. 16 at Maki Gym in the Lotus Club. Kakidamishi 2 will feature three of the biggest fights Okinawa has ever seen. First, Stan the Man (Australian), a fighter known as the Mike Tyson of kickboxing, will battle it out with Ryuji Murakami (Japan). Then, K-1’s very own Carl Malenco (USA) will take on David Keller (USA), champion of the third martial arts academy tournament on Okinawa. Keller is a Marine stationed on island. Finally, Thai fighter Sakmongkol Sitchuchok will challenge Japan’s Kouji Otani. Who will be the last man standing?

Admission to the fight is ¥5,000 for “A” seats and ¥10,000 for special ringside tickets. The Lotus Club will open at 4:00 p.m., and the first fight will begin at 5:00 p.m. Also, on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 3:00 p.m., Carl Malenco will host a special fighting seminar at the Lotus Club’s Maki Gym. He will teach his fighting technique to all who are interested in learning, and students can practice with him and even spar with him throughout the demonstration. If you have tickets to Kakidamishi 2, admission to Carl’s fighting seminar is free. Otherwise, admission is ¥1,000.

To reach the Lotus Club, if you are driving north on the road that runs beside the Okinawa Convention Center, turn right before Lawson after passing the convention center. After turning, you will see the Lotus Club on your left before you reach Highway 58.

Freebies: Tickets for one couple
