DiscriminationBy: Alicia Yoshida Unouchi Nakamura Date Posted: 2001-11-15 My son was forced to drop out of the Peruvian Air Force Military Academy because, according to a statement issued by the Academy, my son’s attitude was incompatible with their standards. However, the academy officials processed him out as if he had decided to quit the academy of his own will. Moreover, all records concerning his attitude could not be further from what he is in reality. The evidence that he is qualified, for which many people testified was ignored, and no investigation was made. Behind the case, there are some students who spread propaganda and false rumors within the academy in order to oust Japanese-Peruvian students from the academy. In the current situation in Peru, everyone is trying to eliminate Japanese-Peruvians from any public positions, because people suspect them to be those who were in charge of scandals and crimes of the previous government of President Fujimori. Their aim was to tarnish my son’s reputation and kick him out of the academy. Alicia Yoshida Unouchi Lima City, Oct 28, 2001 |
