Farmers’ market attracts crowd with free stew

Date Posted: 2001-11-15

A farmers’ market festival was held, Friday, at Okegawa in Naha City. A large crowd gathered looking for low priced fresh vegetables. Three hundred people were also served free stew and rice balls.

The chairman of the Farmers’ Market Association, Katsudai Kinjo said the popularity of the market is decreasing as there are more shopping centers and less parking space around the market. He added that this festival could bring customers back. Many people came for the fresh vegetable sale. At one time the crowd got so large that people were tumbling over each other.
