San-A super shopping complex construction on way

San-A Corporation, the biggest supermarket chain in Okinawa, had a groundbreaking ceremony, Wednesday, at a shopping complex that is to become the company’s biggest shopping center called “Naha Main Place” at Ameku, Naha City.

The new facility is scheduled to open in October 2002, and will include a variety of shops, restaurants, and movie theaters. In addition to a huge San-A supermarket, the complex will host seventy tenants. The company says that the new complex will create over a thousand job opportunities. The total investment for this project is around ¥9 billion, and the company expects ¥18 billion in annual sales.
