Yomitan schools start cultural exchange through Internet

Date Posted: 2001-11-08

Two junior high schools in Yomitan Village signed an Internet sister school agreement on Friday with two schools near Paris, France. Yomitan and Furugen Junior High Schools have already started exchanging thoughts and ideas through e-mail. This marks the first exchange project between Japan and the European Union (EU) through the Internet in Japan.

The village and EU started the exchange after the G-8 Summit last year, when representatives from both had pledged to keep in touch in order to establish a good opportunity to learn different cultures, customs and history.
