Hotel business down by twenty percent

Date Posted: 2001-11-08

The Prefectural Office of Commerce and Labor have published a report on a survey conducted among resorts and hotel in the prefecture. The survey intended to chart the current business situation in the hotel industry after the terror attack in the United States. The report was presented to the Prefectural Assembly on Oct. 30.

The survey showed that sales decreased by more than twenty percent compared to the last year in over seventy percent of the hotels that participated in the survey. At four hotels, a total of 195 part time workers were forced to stay home. The survey was conducted by sending facsimiles to 49 hotels that have room for more than 150 guests.
