Sam's Cafe offers festive foodsBy: David Knickerbocker Date Posted: 2001-10-25 ![]() ![]() ![]() There’s nothing to fear when dining at Sam's; they use only USDA Choice Beef. The Happy Halloween Special's steak comes in three sizes: 230 g for ¥1,950, 340 g for ¥2,480, and a giant 450 g steak for ¥2,980. I had the 230 gram steak and was so stuffed I could barely walk out of the restaurant when I finished my meal. The steak was delicious, and the natural aujus sauce is a nice addition. For children, Sam's Cafe is offering a Kids’ special meal that includes golden fried shrimp, hamburger steak, Halloween Mushroom potato (sausage base, potato head), a bowl of Ghost Buster pumpkin soup, fresh garden salad, saffron rice, Trick or Treat dessert, and a glass of juice or a soft drink. This hearty meal costs only ¥650 and is available for kids under 8 years of age. Also, the restaurant has a Spooky Cocktail Menu with two new festive drinks. The Devil's Kiss is a drink served with dry ice and in a special, spooky mug. This drink is a mysterious blend of rum, brandy, and tropical juices guaranteed to "loosen tongues and lubricate eyeballs." This kiss will cost you ¥700. A non-alcoholic version of the drink called the Little Devil is also being offered for only ¥500. Sam's Cafe has certainly made a run with this whole Halloween thing! Their new menu is delightfully charming and the staff, all wearing witch hats, and decorations will ensure that you have a really spooktacular time while getting stuffed off a delicious Halloween meal. Sam's is open daily from 5 p.m. to midnight, and the last call is at 11 p.m. Reservations are not required. Also, Sam's Cafe is offering a special to readers of Japan Update. Check the events page in this issue to find the coupon. |
