Okinawan gets new heart in California

Shingo Arasaki, 19, had n heart transplant operation on Friday at UCLA hospital. The operation was completed successfully, and the patientís condition is reportedly stable. Arasaki is from Tomigusuku Village and had been in the U.S. since July waiting for the operation.

Upon hearing the news, members of a volunteer group that has helped Arasaki were reportedly filled with relief and joy. The group has so far raised nearly •80 million to support Arasaki but group members say they will need •20 million more by the time he will be discharged from the hospital.
