Buying Life Insurance form The Internet

Date Posted: 2001-10-13

If you happen to be a licensed insurance agent and have a vast awareness of Group Term insurance, advantages and disadvantages you are qualified to purchase life insurance from the Internet.

I recently talked with a 43-year-old Master Sergeant concerning the Group Insurance he purchased off the internet. According to this Master Sergeant the premium for $200,000 of coverage is $27.50 monthly. To me and anyone else this seems very reasonable because of age and coverage.

After very carefully reviewing this Group Plan I discovered that he had bought a ten-year term with a re-entry. This simply means when the term expires he must re-qualify to renew this coverage. If he is not medically qualified the coverage terminates. Additionally I found this coverage if renewed converts to an annual renewable term, meaning that every year the premium increases. ART becomes very expensive in a short period of time.

My suggestion is to contact an insurance agent here on Okinawa whom you can trust (that’s funny) and will present insurance facts in an objective manner. The insurance agent you choose should represent an insurance company with at least an "A+" rating from A.M. Best, and in Japan, a company accredited be USCINPAC and that has never been barred from U.S. Forces facilities for questionable and irregular sales practices.
