International boys’ baseball tourney planned

As a part of its celebration of the 30th anniversary festivities of Okinawa’s reversion to the Japanese sovereignty, Okinawa City officials are planning to organize an international boys’ baseball tournament starting July 29. Organizers say that teams from the U.S., Brazil, South Korea, Philippines and Taiwan are expected to attend. Teams from Okinawa City’s sister city Osaka-Toyonaka are also expected to play. “This is the first time we are organizing this kind of sports event. With teams from five countries attending, this will be a very exciting event and the city will do our best to ensure its success,” Okinawa City Mayor Masakazu Nakasone stated.
