Couple arrested for embezzling ¥10 million

Nago Police arrested a 58-year-old chairman’s representative of a construction company and a 45-year-old accountant of the same company, Thursday, on charges of embezzlement in the conduct of business. The suspects were questioned of embezzling over ¥10 million in cash from the company. They have admitted that they withdrew the money, but claim that it was a part of their job in the company.

According to the police investigation, they allegedly embezzled the money in July last year, in order to buy land for building a private house for themselves. The suspects are a common-law couple and already bought the land in Nago City.

The company had accused them of a criminal offense last December.
