Captain accused for landing illegally on SenkakuDate Posted: 2001-10-13 According to an investigation by the agency, the boat that carried the members weighs about five tons. The Senkaku Islands are out of the allowed operational area for a boat of that size. Mitsuhiro Takayama, an assembly member of Fukuoka City spoke in public about the incident on Wednesday, Oct. 3. He said that a group of six people, including some members of Ishigaki City assembly, had landed on one of the islands in late May, and placed there a flag criticizing the Japanese diplomacy concerning the dispute over the territory. He said that they had stayed on the island for about thirty minutes. |
