Count on Marines

Date Posted: 2001-10-08

You can always count on the Marines to do their job, even if it means standing guard duty. Whether it's a day thick with humidity, or an evening drenched with rain, you'll see them dutifully standing their posts.

Despite the burden of their heavy gear, they are still able to flash a reassuring smile to the motorists, or snap to attention to acknowledge an officer's vehicle.

My wife and I were just talking about how fortunate we are for being among motivated individuals when we prepared to enter another military installation (not manned by the Marines). The guards there were either leaning against the barricades, or curled up inside the guard shack. These service members could learn a lesson or two from the men and women of the Corps.
