Date Posted: 2001-10-08

In the midst of the worst unemployment situation in the prefecture, with the unemployment rate reaching 9.2 percent, the Prefectural Office, Department of Commerce and Labor announced on Friday, a plan to create more opportunity and develop more professional skills as an urgent short-term countermeasure.

Concretely, prefecture officials will encourage employers to give necessary training to jobless people, or organize joint job fairs focused on those who have learned skills at vocational training schools. They will also set up a consulting service through the telephone and web pages.

The total budget for the project is 160 million.
